Get rid of those winter doldrums. Join us for a great night out with a lot of excitement. Camel sponsors - we want all camels 'adopted' by June 2010, and we're taking reservations.

Join us for a great evening of dinner and fun at the third running of the camels. Admission - $30, includes a buffet dinner, draft beer and house wine tickets , cash bar available. Dinner starts at 6:30 pm, races at 7:15 pm, 50/50 raffles and 'second chance' prizes between races. We expect the festivities to end between 11 and 11:30 pm.

Adopt a camel for $125 and decorate it as you wish. Choose a business theme or make it whimsical. Display the camel at your business for the weeks running up to the date of the race.

Tickets will be available soon. Race program business card sized ads are available for $40, while space is available. First choice goes to camel sponsors.

You must be 21 to attend. Cash bar available. For more information contact Bob Smith at 810-923-1480.

Thank you to our camel sponsors, door prize donors and all of the participants that made our second annual camel race a success. 2009 Best Dressed Camel awards went to (1) Efficient Energy Services, (2) Reflections Salon and Day Spa, and (3) Chief Justice Theresa Brennan's camel, decorated by the Lindbom Elementary School. Last year's winners were Efficient Energy Enterprises (1st), Citizens Bank (2nd) and Reflections Salon and Day Spa (3rd).

Camel Racing is a different kind of millionaires party organized under the State of Michigan's Charitable Gaming regulations. Proceeds go towards Optimist youth programs. Those programs can be viewed at our web site www.BrightonOptimist.org.

Optimist Clubs around the world serve the community's youth. The Brighton club is celebrating its 30th year and has issued tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships to the area's youth.

Millionaire Party License M55856 issued to the Optimist Club of Brighton. Proceeds will be used for youth events and programs.

How Does The Race Work?

Real money is exchanged for 'camel bucks'. Camel bucks are then wagered on your favorite camel. Camels are raced in groups of six. Two large foam dice are thrown against a wall. If the numbers 2 and 4 turn up, camels in slots 2 and 4 move one space ahead. The first camel to reach the tenth space is the 'winner'. Winning odds are computed pari-mutuel style, just like at a horse race. Winners are paid in camel bucks, which can be exchanged for cash at the end of the night.

There will also be a 'Best Decorated Camel' contest. Votes cost $1 and the winner will be announced after the 1st race. We will run 8 heats and the top finishers will then compete in the 'championship run-off' for the night's honors.
